Christmas Orders!

I have a really fun idea for a new item but I can't tell you until after Christmas because my first recipient reads my blog and I don't want to spoil the surprise. :-)

I have been sewing up a storm! Just mailed off a box of 15 sets (!) to one faithful customer--apparently they were a big hit last year---and am back at it. I 'm happy to have nifty new little gift tags this year:

Stay tuned and if I haven't sewn my finger to a towel I'll post again before Christmas (and right after so you can know what the mystery gift is). Happy Holidays!

LindseyTowels in Paris?

One of my customers tells me the food blog The Daily Meal mentions the humble flour-sack towel in the context of fine Parisian dining---who knew!?

<Once the cassoulet is cooking, set the table the way they do at cafés in France. Top a white linen tablecloth with a piece of plain white paper, and set two places (if you’re dining a deux) using plain white linen or flour sack cloth napkins. Fill an old glass wine or soda bottle with water, and opt for Picardie glasses to complete the authentic look. Place a flower in a small vase in the middle of the table, with two white taper candles to either side. Of course, don’t forget to open a bottle of your favorite vin rouge.>

I want to do this myself! I think I'd use the elegant teal LindseyTowels pictured above, and decorate with these gorgeous tea lights from Decorating Studio:

And this gives me more ideas for combining my husband's award-winning BBQ skills (with a great cut of natural meat from Keller's Farm Stores, of course) for the next International Balloon Fiesta here in Albuquerque (next October---seems like a long time to hold on to an idea!).

Just finished a big order and they look so great all together! Wouldn't a big bundle like this be a fun thing to have at a wedding shower or baby shower? A party favor that everyone gets to take home. You could really make a great display with flowers or in a baby carriage or huge basket---so many possibilities!

I'll make another batch if there are any takers!?

Another First!

I am so excited that LindseyTowels are going to be carried at a wonderful cooking store here in Albuquerque called "Now We're Cooking!". This store has been a favorite of ours since we have been here---very top notch, beautiful items and an exceptional staff. Keep your fingers crossed that they sell quickly, and that a second order will follow. My thanks to our friend, Jill, who made the meeting with the owner, Nancy possible. She has been a super supporter of LindseyTowels, as has my sister, Leslie, who has been the creative one behind this whole idea; always coming up with clever things that keep me excited about pursuing this, and also my sister-in-law, Carol, who has been spreading the word about LindseyTowels, and giving them for gifts for every occasion imaginable. Also thanks to my husband Stan, who is great with a sewing machine, and has been a huge part of keeping us with a stock on hand. He's been a huge promoter of this new business-- Who knows where this can all lead? I think I will be dreaming good dreams tonight!

Colors!!!!

"I remember Grandma using towels like these all the time---except they weren't pretty like these!"
I get comments all the time about how the flour sack towels bring back special memories of Moms and Grandmothers---baking/ jelly making, etc. Here's a sample of the colors we have to offer, and I am very open to suggestions for additional colors---how about pink or blue half-sized towels as a baby shower present for the new mom and dad to keep in a diaper bag  for all the necessary clean ups! (will do half size if requested)- I have had several orders for "bouquets" of towels in a vase ( sets of 3 towels in a pretty glass vase for $20.00)---Valentine's Day and Mother's Day-are just around the corner--why give real flowers that last only a few days when you can give a little whimsy with a vase of LindseyTowels ?

"Erik's Coffeehouse" collection

I love this warm collection of brown/copper/bronze/mocha---named after my son's dream of having a coffeehouse someday! Went over to friends' tonight for dinner and thought I'd grab a few sets to take along. Sold $100 just like that! I can't wait to get back to the sewing machine, get some more ribbon ordered, and get the word out about Lindsey Towels. It's almost scary in a funny sort of way, the way these are taking off. Almost every conversation I have ends up in a sale, and I'm not even trying! One customer told me he thinks the towels have healing powers! Let's hope he's right!

It took a while to figure out how to package the towels. Folding in perfect squares so the ribbon lines up well was just too time consuming, and of course no guarantee what the U.S. Mail would do to undo our efforts anyway.  The rolls are a perfect solution...easy to do, pretty to see when you first open the box, and fewer wrinkles in the towels.

"Keiji's Destiny" collection

"Keiji's Destiny" is named after my grandson born in Japan---I've not met him yet but you can believe I'm going to give that little guy a bath and bundle him up in all four colors when I do!

I have a feeling that I can sell these about as fast as I can sew them up. Oh, I wish I had whole days to work on this. Thank you, everyone, for your enthusiasm and purchases!
